What does the vaccine contain?
| Does Panvax® H1N1 vaccine contain any gelatin products? Panvax® H1N1 vaccine does not contain any gelatin.
Does Panvax® H1N1 vaccine contain any blood products? Panvax® H1N1 vaccine does not contain any blood products.
Does Panvax® H1N1 vaccine contain any bovine products? H1N1 vaccine may contain traces of the bovine derived material sodium taurodeoxycholate (less than 5mcg per 0.5mL dose). This agent is used to disrupt the virus particles during the manufacture of the vaccine.
The sodium taurodeoxycholate used in Panvax® H1N1 vaccine comes with a TSE (transmissible spongiform encephalopathy) Certificate of Suitability from the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM). This Certificate of Suitability confirms that sodium taurodeoxycholate is a low risk material that meets the criteria for minimising the risk of transmitting animal spongiform encephalopathy agents. | Does Panvax® H1N1 vaccine contain any of the following? | Does the vaccine contain thiomersal? The multi-dose vials contain a small amount of the preservative thiomersal. Multi-dose vials are used to facilitate the distribution of a large amount of doses. Thiomersal (or thimerosal) has been used as a preservative in very small amounts in vaccines for about 60 years and has a very long safety record. Multi-dose vials of thiomersal-containing seasonal flu vaccine are routinely used in other countries, eg the United States. Does Panvax®H1N1 vaccine contain any latex?
No. There is no latex in any part of the presentation of Panvax ®H1N1 vaccine.
